Thanks for the story!

> ... to come up with a great intuitive UI ...

The screenshots and videos showcasing the UI completely blew my mind. However, I can't shake the feeling that they might have overdone it.

Echoing your words, I want to say something like, "Yes, UI is hot, but so are the algorithms! Every $$$ you can pour into UI, you can also pour into software engineering teams."

But I should assume those visualizations are well justified. :)

Possible, but the point is: you need to sell & market data-powered products differently, in my experience.

One lesson: This stuff is and always will be compl(ex?) so you have to work with that somehow. And good tools include showcasing, UIs, demos, hands-on approaches, abstractions etc. :-D

I completely agree that it's essential to make it clear for customers why they're being asked to pay a premium. ( for a unique data product )

Does this mean that visualization is more effective than plain text in this context? The complexity of the underlying algorithms is hidden from the user anyway - they only care about threat detection / prevention. So it doesn't seem to be related to data products in particular. However, I could be mistaken if they also use visualizations to explain the behavior of their models.

Hm so I got a theory around that, but I'm still working on putting it into good words :-D

Essentially, the idea is that all data stuff is complex (truly in the sense of the Cynefin framework). But it is possible to make complex things easier to understand for humans, by breaking them into small individual parts (but which btw. the whole system get's even more complex) - e.g. by using visuals, demos, but also by actual engineering and product decisions.
