News From Sven - Data Mesh in Action, Data as Code, Data Mesh on GCP
Hi there,
I managed to publish quite a bit apart from the newsletters the past few weeks. Here are three things that are going on right now! You’ll get the regular Three Data Point Thursday & Thoughtful Friday as usual on Thursday & Friday.
The book I am coauthoring just got a MEAP update. It now features lots of great examples, a definition of what a Data Mesh really is, and a new chapter on data governance. Go check it out!
You can also grab a special discount code from my website www.datacisions.com.
I’ve also written an extensive piece on building the technical side of things Google Cloud technologies, so if you’re interested in seeing the technicals behind a data mesh, that post should be interesting!
And since the content will also become part of the book, I’d love any feedback you have on that.

Data as Code – Cutting Things Smaller
Domain-Driven Design and microservices have changed the way software engineers work. And I think, they can be used to multiply the productivity of data teams as well. But I also think, they have to be used slightly differently because the common centralized data team is in a very different situation than the common (decentralized) software team.
This part is about using some of these ideas and making them easy to use in the day-to-day of a data team.
So no, no data mesh content in here! Trust me, I’m really trying hard to not write more data mesh content, I feel like a book is already way more than enough.
